Toc Toc is a world-renowned comedy play written in 2005 that humorously explores the lives of six individuals living with Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD). The title itself is a double entendre: “TOC” is the Spanish and French acronym for OCD (Trastorno Obsesivo Compulsivo and Trouble Obsessionnel Compulsif), and it also mimics the sound of a “knock-knock” at a door.
The entire play takes place in the waiting room of a famous psychiatrist, who is known for his ability to cure severe cases of OCD. Due to a computer error, all six patients have been scheduled for the same time. When the doctor is delayed, the patients are left alone together.
To pass the time, the characters begin to interact, eventually deciding to start their own improvised group therapy session. Through a series of hilarious and often touching situations, they attempt to help each other manage their individual symptoms.
